DTH hammers are tools specially used for breaking or drilling in underground engineering. It is mainly composed of several parts, including a piston, drill bit, air pipe, air circuit, and so on. The working principle of DTH hammers is to excavate or break the ground by using high-pressure air or hydraulically driven pistons to make the drill bit continuously impact the ground or the wall of the borehole. Let's take a closer look at how DTH hammers work.

First, DTH hammers need to be installed on the drilling rig through drill pipe or other connection methods. Then, the compressed air or hydraulic pressure is sent to the piston of DTH hammers through the pipeline to form a high-pressure airflow or pressure. Under the pressure of the piston, the drill bit reciprocates and radially impacts the ground or the drilling wall.

During the movement, the impact force generated by the DTH hammers drill bit can crack, break and excavate the underground rock or concrete material. At the same time, with the reciprocating movement of the piston up and down, the drill bit is constantly rotating, and under the combination of intensive impact and rotation, the underground material is continuously excavated forward.

It should be noted that the size and shape of DTH hammers must match the hardness and strength of the underground material, otherwise, it will cause damage to the equipment or difficulty in operation. In addition, the air pressure or hydraulic pressure of DTH hammers must be well controlled so that it operates within the normal operating range, otherwise, it will be dangerous.

In short, the working principle of DTH hammers is to drive the piston through high-pressure air or hydraulic pressure to make the drill bit reciprocate, so as to realize the function of underground excavation or crushing. Correctly mastering its working principle and usage method can improve the work efficiency and quality of underground engineering.
